Building a Legacy

  • 1964 —The history of Mid-States Aluminum began in 1964.  Our business consisted of one extrusion press, and our niche in the market was lineal mill finished aluminum extrusions.

  • 1984 — Joe Colwin purchased Mid-States Aluminum, creating a major turning point in our history.

  •  1987 — Progress Thru People was born.

Progress Thru People

Progress Thru People was legally trademarked in 1991 and continues to this day.

  • 1999 —Mid-States successfully became ISO 9001 certified, and our quality statement was created.
     
    At Mid-States Aluminum, we are all responsible to have a COMMITMENT FOR EXCELLENCE in everything we do. Our goal is to completely satisfy our customers by providing superior quality and service in a safe manner while focusing on continuous improvement — ALL THE TIME.

  • 2004 — President George W. Bush visited Mid-States Aluminum as part of his re-election bid.

  • 2005 — Mid-States welcomed our first robotic cell with CNC machining and punching.

  • 2017 — Mid-States announced plans to invest $20 million to purchase a new high-efficiency extrusion press line and fully automated material handling equipment. Included in the investment was a 36,000-square foot facility expansion and two new robotic cells for the manufacture of automotive components.

  • 2019 — Production began on the new press line. This opened up expanded capabilities and entry into new product offerings. The press has been recognized as one of the most technologically advanced presses in North America. 

  • 2021 — A 4,400 square foot shipping facility and loading bay expansion further enhanced our ability to load flatbed trucks for up to 25 foot extrusions.
